BIOGRAPHY

 Billy Allen (William S. Allen Jr.), professionally known as Billdog, is an American songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist whose career spans more than three decades across the United States and Europe. Throughout his career, he has written, produced, recorded, and performed across R&B, pop, hip-hop, rock, and contemporary music, collaborating with internationally recognized artists while continuing to create and release original music under his own name.

Known for his versatility, Billy Allen has performed and recorded as a guitarist, keyboardist, bassist, vocalist, producer, recording engineer, arranger, and songwriter. His ability to work across multiple musical roles has enabled him to collaborate with internationally recognized artists while developing a body of original work that reflects his broad musical influences and creative vision. 

Allen first gained international recognition as a songwriter on Cameo's album Real Men... Wear Black, co-writing six songs, including "I Want It Now," which reached No. 5 on the Billboard R&B Singles Chart and earned him an ASCAP Songwriter Award. Another composition from the album, "Close Quarters," also reached the Billboard charts, further establishing his reputation as a songwriter. He also appeared as the keyboard player in the music videos for both songs.

Following his success in the United States, Billy continued his career in Germany, where he became involved in numerous recording and production projects.  His work has included collaborations with artists such as Die Fantastischen Vier, Hausmarke (Michi Beck), Colonel Abrams, YoCo Ross, James Simpson's Pleasure Unlimited Orchestra, the Barry White Tribute Show, Thomas Motter, Charles Shaw (original voice of Milli Vanilli), and Sir Waldo Weathers, longtime saxophonist with the legendary James Brown Band. He has also collaborated with many other musicians throughout Europe and the United States. 

His work includes songwriting for Deutsche Telekom's promotional project "It's Up To You," contributions to Hausmarke's Mädchen N° 1, and guitar performances on Die Fantastischen Vier recordings, including "Troy." He has also written songs for Colonel Abrams, including "Bad Timing."

Billy's career has extended well beyond the recording studio. He has toured and performed internationally and has contributed to numerous live television performances and recording sessions. His broad musical background has allowed him to move comfortably between songwriting, production, studio recording, and live performance.

Committed to lifelong learning, Allen earned a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media and Web Design from the University of Maryland Global Campus (2021) and later completed a Master Certificate in Songwriting and Music Production through Berklee College of Music.
